Galkayo University is administered by the Mudug Foundation for Education Development (MUFED), an educational foundation established by 55 Somali professionals from within Somalia and the diaspora, including doctors, engineers, lecturers, teachers, lawyers, computer scientists, and business leaders.
The University was established in October 2010 in Galkayo, the capital city of the Mudug Region of Somalia, with the objective of expanding access to quality higher education and contributing to sustainable national development.
