The Process

How Admission Works

Apply

Fill in the university enrolment form and pay the $50 registration fee (non-refundable).

Submit Documents

Secondary school certificate, birth certificate or passport, and two colour photographs (6×4 cm).

Eligibility Review

Your results are checked against the entry requirements for your chosen department.

Offer

Successful applicants receive an admission offer from the Registrar’s office.

Registration

Complete registration, pay first-semester tuition and begin orientation.

  • A general Secondary School Certificate accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education (or the equivalent authority of your country)
  • Results must be available at the time of application
  • Pass at least 50% of the total subjects
  • Earn 60% or more in the subjects relevant to your chosen department
  • Copy of birth certificate or passport
  • Two colour photographs (6×4 cm) for physical applicants
  • $50 registration fee (non-refundable)
  • Completed university enrolment form

Continuing your studies from another institution? Here’s what you need.

Required Documents

  • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • Secondary School Certificate
  • Letter of good standing from your previous institution
  • Course descriptions or syllabi for credit evaluation
  • Copy of birth certificate or passport
  • Two colour photographs (6×4 cm)
  • $50 registration fee (non-refundable)

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 required
  • Only courses with grade C or better transfer
  • Maximum 60 credit hours transferable
  • Credits must come from an accredited institution recognized by GU
  • Transfer credits are evaluated by the academic department
Transfer students must complete at least 50% of their degree at Galkayo University to graduate.

Admissions FAQ

What grades do I need to be admitted?
You must pass at least 50% of the total subjects in your secondary school certificate, and earn 60% or more in the subjects relevant to the department you are applying to.
How much does it cost to apply?
The registration fee is $50 and is non-refundable. Tuition is then paid per semester and varies by program — see the tuition table above.
Can I transfer credits from another university?
Yes — up to 60 credit hours from an accredited institution recognized by GU, for courses passed with grade C or better and a minimum GPA of 2.5. At least half your degree must be completed at GU.
When can I apply?
Application windows are announced by the Registrar’s office ahead of each intake. Visit the Administration Building or follow university announcements for the current dates.
Where do I submit my application?
At the Administration Building on the Galkayo campus — Saturday to Wednesday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Thursday 8:00 AM–1:00 PM — or use the Apply Now button to apply online.
