Admission Requirements

Admission requirements vary based on the application type (New or Transfer), however; the admission of a new applicant to a bachelor’s Degree Program will be based on any of the following minimum requirements as required documents should be submitted in-person to the Admissions Department:

  • A general Secondary School Certificate accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent authority of the applicant’s country.
  • Only Applicants whose results are available at the time of application will be considered.
  • A copy of birth certificate or Passport.
  • Students will be admitted if he/she passes at least 50% of the total subjects.
  • Students will be admitted only if he/she earns 60% and more with the relevant subjects to the department.
  • Two color photographs (6×4) cm for physical applicants.
  • Registration fees Payment of 50 Dollars (non-refundable).
  • All applicants should fill in the university enrollment form.

Submission Location

All applicants are required to bring all the required documents to the following address:

Administration Building, Galkayo College.
Saturday to Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Thursday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Several scholarships and grants are available for undergraduate students at Galkayo University who are seeking for financial assistance. The information below is available for undergraduate registered students who willing to apply for these scholarships.

 



Galkayo University offers this scholarship to academically distinguished students enrolled in the undergraduate programs on an annual basis and on the merit of preference in recognition of a student’s hard work and achievements. These scholarships are awarded to students with high academic performance, such as outstanding grades and high scores on tests.

GU will exempt tuition fees to reduce the financial burden on students and their families which can motivate them to continue excelling in their pursuits.

  • To recognize the hard work and achievements of the students.

Requirements for the scholarship:

  1. Applicant must be enrolled at Galkayo University.
  2. Must have completed at least 50 credit hours in Galkayo University.
  3. Must be a first scoring student in his/her department in the total of two semesters.
  4. Applicant cannot benefit from this scholarship and another scholarship simultaneously.

Applicants for this scholarship are not required to submit any documents.

Scholarship Objective

  • To reduce the financial burden on the students and their families
  • To motivate students to continue excelling in their pursuits.

The sibling scholarship is designed to support families who are sending more than one student to Galkayo University and this is applicable to only Bachelor’s Degree students.

  1. The siblings must be enrolled at Galkayo University.
  2. The siblings cannot benefit from this scholarship and another scholarship simultaneously.
  3. This program is limited to undergraduate

Every year in Ramadan, student affairs office holds an annual Quranic contest for enrolled undergraduate students. The mission of the scholarship is to encourage students to memorize the Book of God. As a result, the University grants a full scholarship to the contesters of first place in their departments.

  • To promote literacy in the Quran and encourage its recitation, memorization, and apply its spirit in life.

Requirements for application:

  1. The students must be enrolled at Galkayo University.
  2. The students cannot benefit from this scholarship and another scholarship simultaneously.
  3. This Quran scholarship is limited to undergraduate students

Applicants for this scholarship are not required to submit any documents.

Transfer Requirements

Galkayo University welcomes transfer students from other accredited institutions. Transfer applicants must meet the following requirements:

Required Documents
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • Secondary School Certificate
  • Letter of good standing from previous institution
  • Course descriptions or syllabi for transfer credit evaluation
  • Copy of birth certificate or Passport
  • Two color photographs (6×4) cm
  • Registration fees Payment of 50 Dollars (non-refundable)
Transfer Credit Policy
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (or equivalent) required for transfer consideration
  • Only courses with grades of C or better will be considered for transfer
  • Maximum of 60 credit hours can be transferred
  • Credits must be from an accredited institution recognized by GU
  • Transfer credits will be evaluated by the academic department

Note: Transfer students must complete at least 50% of their degree requirements at Galkayo University to be eligible for graduation.
